It’s May 1st and Checkright turns 10 years old today- Happy Birthday to us! Celebrating anything during the global pandemic seems almost surreal or out of place. Some of our clients have businesses that are closed or severely impacted, and we feel for you, and hope recovery will come soon. People in our circles are sick, and we hope for a speedy recovery for everyone suffering. With all this negativity in the news and in the business community as a backdrop, I feel it’s especially important to turn a spotlight on some good news and celebrate a milestone.

A majority of small businesses fail in their first five years. Ten years feel like a real accomplishment. 2010 feels like yesterday and a hundred years ago at the same time. Mostly, this anniversary makes me feel thankful for all the people that helped to make this day possible. I would like to first thank our phenomenal Checkright team. The Department of Homeland Security deemed payroll companies “essential” and we have kept working throughout the current crisis. We know we are not first responders or the doctors and nurses in our hospitals. We do keep the employees at the gas stations, and grocery stores and health clinics paid, and my teammates are heroes to me. Whether working from the office or remotely, they have stayed in great spirits, helped our customers navigate the new relief bills, and been an ear for our clients on days when they had to lay off half their employees. Thanks for all you do!

Let me also give a huge thank you to all our clients. I looked back and we still have 33 customers today that were with us in our first year back in 2010, and I am very proud of that. We would not be the company we are now if you all hadn’t taken a chance on us when we were starting out. Today we have almost 500 partners with employees in 40 states and we appreciate and are thankful in the trust that all of you have bestowed on us to help manage your most important asset-your people.
